Why

Most races I run I come to a point where I ask myself why. Why in the world do I do this?????   Today was really bad, that point literally came 3 minutes into the race. 10k, heat index 94, humidity high 80s.

I finished.
It was not pretty.

I made my goal time, just barely. None of my southern friends would run with me and now I know why! Trying to relive all of my fun fourth memories of races with sisters, friends and family just didn't work today.  I am thinking a new tradition is in order of only running fall, winter and spring races here in the beautiful south.

Super, Duper Family Fun

We got back last week from our Utah adventure. I am still not caught up with things but it was worth it!   Here are the highlights. After driving 34 hours we got to Utah, got up the next morning and went straight to Lagoon. Luke was so enamored with this frog on the Carousel. He said it was a frog with fancy pants. Having my children spend time with their cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents reminded me again what life is like without at least one child hanging on me at all times.

Next stop was Aspen Grove in Provo canyon. We spent 4 days there with my family. All of us were together for the first time in many years, it was crazy and fun.  Luke caught his first fish, I included a picture of myself to show that I actually exist and the one of Luke screaming is to document how he acted 1/2 of the time while there. The other 1/2 he was adorable, somehow it just is not equal though.
These are pictures from my brother Stan's wedding to Julie. It was wonderful! Their dog Riddick was the ring bearer. Other pictures are of Sophie and Julie, Jason and I actually had someone take a picture of us together and my parents and I. I am surprised how tired I look in all these vacation pictures! I guess there is only so much makeup can cover.
The Grand Canyon with Jason's family.  So beautiful and anxiety causing with 6 kids to look after on a trail!!!!

We finished our trip at Zion National Park. It was so fun and full of memories! Luke and Noah immediately began throwing rocks in any water they could find. Of course they jumped in this mud puddle first and splattered all of us. I have had many picnics on the lawn in front of Zion Inn under this huge Cottonwood tree but this was the first with our kids.

We survived, and mostly enjoyed, our big adventure. Even getting lost in rural Eastern Kentucky in a huge thunderstorm on the way home was born patiently. Although I will now seriously doubt my husband when he says he knows the way in a state he has been to one time previously.  Happy Summer!
