I was determined to not spend time at the computer today. I am so busy doing things I procrastinated until the last minute that I really don't have time to blog or read...But then I saw this article. Totally laughing. Right on point. Funny and infuriating.  How I wish I had humor like this! Anyone else seen the new Wonder Woman costume? Just asking...

Inspiration and Hope

When I began teaching I chose to be at a school with children who were in great need. I am not sure why, but I have always wanted to help these children who begin life so disadvantaged. In my heart of hearts I have always wanted to serve and make a difference in the world of these little ones.

I am so grateful to have the blessing to be at home raising my children, but I still feel the pull of finding a way to change our world and make it better. This interview shares the story of an LDS woman who has given her life to teach music to children around our world affected by war. I was so impressed and inspired reading it and I felt such hope. We really all can do much in our sphere of influence to create peace and happiness no matter how small or large it happens to be. Liz's story is here if you are interested:

Meet Miss Molly

This is Grace's illustration of our newest family member, Molly. We adopted her this week. Why didn't I post earlier you ask? Well...she is not completely house trained as we thought and has been much more work then I imagined. You are chuckling...you knew this would happen. I guess I did too. But she is a sweet, fun dog who adores the kids.She is really well behaved other then her "little dribble" problem and we are enjoying her. (Jason is tolerating her and hopeful for more as their relationship continues...)

 

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Luke said family prayer this morning before the girls left for school. He prayed that Jason wouldn't get pinched at work. Grace is convinced that Leprechauns live on the playground at her school. She sometimes spends recess all by herself looking for them. I think St. Patricks Day is super fun. So easy to celebrate! Of course, wearing green is just another day for Luke. He did make sure he had on his favorite green Yoda undies today also though. I wish you were here to make corned beef Mom. I am not ambitious enough to do it myself.

Cyber Sister in Japan

Some of you know how much I love the LDS online magazine called Segullah. There is a sister who posts there who lives in Japan. If you are interested in her experiences in the last few days her blog is here.http://actegratuit.blogspot.com/  Her post today records the efforts of her small branch to help with food and supplies to harder hit areas close to home. She also has really interesting advice from an emergency preparedness standpoint that I am going to take to heart.

My heart is sorrowing for the people of Japan. There is not much to do right now to help except pray. But can you imagine how all of our prayers are helping? I have faith that prayer does make a difference. Jason's good friends the Hashimotos in Tokyo are fine, house and everything. They have sore feet from walking home on Friday from work is all. Jason said it would be like walking from downtown SL to Draper. They are worried about the aftershocks and the nuclear situation but there have food and water stored and are doing well.

I am embarrassed to admit that I needed this to happen to our friends to motivate me to work on following the prophet's advice. Koji also said that he is going to get a helmet to keep at work in his desk. Not a bad idea if you work in a high rise in Japan.

Mark one off the Bucket List

I have always wanted to see a battle reenactment. Greensboro has one each year and we were able to watch yesterday. The reenactment is commemorating a Revolutionary War battle where General Nathaniel Greene (hence the name of our illustrious city) led the colonial army against the British. Led by a brilliant British Commander the Red Coats won the battle but suffered heavy losses. The Colonials had very few losses and although they lost the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, it turned the tide of the Revolutionary war and ultimately won independence for their fledgling nation. I love history. I think there are many lessons to be learned. I wondered yesterday as we listened to musket and cannon fire if I give up too quickly. Do I sometimes think losing a battle means the war is lost? I think I could use some additional  tenacity, innovation and bravery meeting the challenges in my life.

I also have to cheer for beautiful spring days!

She loves me, she loves me not

Sophie handed me these pictures last night at bedtime. She had a lousy afternoon, I admit, and I felt bad not being convinced by this oh so artistic rendering of emotions.  She is a funny girl. Please note that Jason is snoring, not me! Also that he has 2 hairs...
